Terms and Conditions
Any user-generated content submitted via link or attachment to this site, and related sites which host said content, including, but not limited to, YouTube and Flickr, must only be produced in accordance with these terms and conditions:
1) Individuals’ privacy must be respected at all times when filming or photographing animals encountered. Animals must only be filmed in publicly visible places, eg encountered on the street or in parkland. Individuals’ houses and property must not be filmed in detail, and any videos or photographs produced should not reveal any more than can be seen from, for example, the view on Google Street View. It is the responsibility of the content creator to edit content before submission to remove or obscure any material which may infringe privacy. Rights-infringement complaints policy is below.
2) Under no circumstances must animals be filmed in a manner which might endanger their safety or cause their distress, including, but not limited to, attempts to encourage animals to cross a road with moving traffic. Any videos or photographs taken should reflect typical, natural and unforced encounters with animals in public places and should reflect such encounters without provoking reactions from the animal purely for the purposes of filming or photography. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure their own, and the animals’ safety, is paramount and secure, and to proceed only if and when they are satisfied of this.
3) By submitting material to the Random Cat Project, either by link or attachment, the user confirms they have the rights to said material as its creator. They assign the Random Cat Project non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free rights to this material in perpetuity to reproduce, distribute, make derivate works of, display, and perform any or all of this material for the purpose of promotion of this website (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels. 4) You agree to indemnify the Random Cat Project from all liability and responsibility for any amount or kind of loss or damage that may result to you or to a third party in any way or in connection with submitting works to this website or by the Random Cat Project and its creators reproducing the works in any form.
5) In addition to the above Terms and Conditions of the Random Cat Project, you agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions of hosting sites, including but not limited to, Flickr and YouTube, when uploading content to these for use on the Random Cat Project.
Rights-infringement complaints policy
If you believe that materials hosted or linked to by us infringe your rights, including your personal privacy, please contact us immediately at rights@randomcatproject.com. Please include:
- A description of the content you believe infringes your rights
- A description of the way in which you believe it infringes your rights
- Your contact information
- Any further evidence, if available, which would support your claim
We will investigate at the earliest opportunity and, if necessary, will break links and delete material while investigations are in progress. Material will not be reinstated unless we are confident that any complaint is groundless and no rights have been infringed.
